It’s Time to Consign to Hake’s Americana

Posted on 8/3/2015

Don't forget to get your books and original comic art in for the next Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction! More books and art are arriving daily. Now is the time to reserve space before it runs out!

While Hake’s most recent auction has just ended with another $1 Million plus tally, they are looking ahead to their next auction, on which work has already begun. In recent auctions, Hake’s has seen an increase in interest in CGC-graded comic books and original comic art amongst their bidders and has seen a number of record prices realized.

“The demand for quality comics and original comic art grows with each auction,” according to Hake’s President Alex Winter. “In the past, fans had to go search high and low for the comics they wanted. The internet and auctions like ours have become a reliable resource to get these books into the hands of people who quite often have been looking for them for some time.

As for the interest in original comic art, it’s always interesting to see the artists’ work for so many comic strips and comic books we’ve all been exposed to over the years. As evidenced by interest from our bidder’s, it seems very likely that this relatively new collecting category will only grow in popularity. It’s funny to think that original comic art was once thrown out after publication.”

Hake’s is currently accepting consignments of ungraded books for CGC-grading consideration as well as graded books and a variety of types of original art. Let Hake’s put its 48 years of experience to work getting you the best price for your consignments.

Consignors with ungraded books wishing to have those books graded for inclusion in Hake’s next auction should get their consignments to Hake’s within the next month, by mid to late August. The timeline for submitting graded books and original art is a bit more lenient, but Hake’s advises consignors to get their items in sooner than later.

“This is your best opportunity to reserve space in the upcoming Hake’s auction. It’s important to get auction items in as early as possible,” said Hake’s Consignment Manager Kelly McClain.

“Call or email me today.” Contact McClain at mkelly@hakes.com or call toll-free 866-404-9800, extension 1636 to consign your items. The next Hake’s auction is scheduled for November, 2015.
