Swamp Thing first appeared in House of Secrets #92, by creators Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson and was published by DC Comics in 1971. In the comics, Alec Holland is a botanist who dies in a swamp only to have his body and memories consumed by the plant life around him. Now as Swamp Thing he has a supernatural ability to communicate with plant life through a network of plants known as the Green.
Swamp Thing premiered his own title in 1972, which ran for 24 issues until 1976. Then in 1982, the Swamp Thing was transplanted to an all-new series titled The Saga of The Swamp Thing for the first 38 issues. The series ran for 171 issues until 1996. While the series features many terrific stories, the most notable perhaps occurred in #37 with the first appearance of John Constantine.
CGC Registry member Jasonmorris1000000 has collected this entire series in his CGC Registry collection titled Swamp Thing Volume 2. All his books are graded CGC 9.8 except for three graded CGC 9.6 and two graded CGC 9.9. This collection has earned Jasonmorris1000000 the Best in Set Type Award from 2020 to 2022.
