Among the video games certified by CGC Video Games is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project from the Mark Freedman Collection.

Retro video games certified by CGC Video Games™ and issues of Nintendo Power magazine certified by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) are being offered by Heritage Auctions in an upcoming sale. Online bidding is already underway for Heritage’s Nintendo 8 to 64-Bit Showcase Auction, which will take place on February 9, 2023.

The auction features several early Nintendo games certified by CGC Video Games, including some from the Mark Freedman Collection. Among them is a sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (1992) for the Nintendo Entertainment System graded CGC 9.6 A++ (lot 80069). A NES exclusive and classic, this game is a favorite among retro video game collectors for its rarity and nostalgia. In addition, this title was owned by Mark Freedman, who was instrumental in bringing the TMNT franchise to life through media and toy production.

Before the internet became commonplace, gamers relied on magazines and phone hotlines for tips and tricks relating to their favorite video games. One such resource for Nintendo fans was Nintendo Power, a monthly magazine that covered upcoming Nintendo games and products, offered hints to popular video game levels, and promoted sweepstakes and special offers. Heritage is offering the first issue of Nintendo Power in the sale: a Nintendo Power #1 (Nintendo of America Inc., 1988) graded CGC 8.0 (lot 80096). The magazine includes all inserts, including a baseball round-up poster, a player’s poll and subscription inserts.

Other CGC-certified highlights in the auction include:

  • a sealed Banjo-Kazooie (1998) for the Nintendo 64 graded CGC 8.5 A+ (lot 80178)
  • a sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989) for the Nintendo Entertainment System graded CGC 9.4 A+ and pedigreed to the Mark Freedman Collection (lot 80068)
  • a sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back from the Sewers (1991) for the Nintendo Game Boy graded CGC 9.8 A++ (lot 80156)
  • a Nintendo Power #1 (Nintendo of America Inc., 1988) graded CGC 7.0 (lot 80097)
  • a sealed Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (1989) for the Nintendo Entertainment System graded CGC 8.5 B+ (lot 80084)
