Over 200 CGC Signature Series Comics in Upcoming Heritage Sale

Over 200 signed comic books, featuring the iconic Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) Signature Series yellow label, are included in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale. Bidding is already underway for the CGC Signature Series Showcase Auction, scheduled for March 2, 2023.
One of the sharpest books in this auction is a Wolverine #1 graded CGC 9.6 Signature Series - Chris Claremont (lot 83204). This comic from 1988 marks the first issue of the first ongoing Wolverine series, following his first full appearance in Incredible Hulk #181 in 1974 and a four-issue limited series in 1982. This comic also features the first appearance of Wolverine in his persona as Patch, wearing a tuxedo and eye patch.

Wolverine was born James Howlett in Canada in the late 1800s. After the emergence of his mutant bone claws one night during a traumatic attack in his home, James ran off and assumed the last name of his birth father, Thomas Logan. He traveled around the world as an assassin and a spy, he fought alongside Captain America in World War II and later he joined the Weapon X program that coated his mutant skeleton with adamantium and erased his memories. After escaping Weapon X, Logan wandered into the woods where he first encountered the Hulk.
