CGC Now Offering Custom SLAM Magazine Labels

Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) was thrilled to recently be appointed the Official Grading Service for SLAM magazine. In celebration of this partnership, CGC is now offering new custom SLAM labels.

SLAM magazine launched in 1994 and combined basketball and hip-hop culture at a time when both were growing in popularity. That first issue introduced many of the magazine's lasting features, including In Your Face, Slam-a-Da-Month and Last Shot.
The sports collecting world has recognized the value in certified copies of SLAM. For instance, a 2021 copy of Slam #233 featuring LeBron James and Bugs Bunny on the cover, graded CGC 8.0, realized $930 in a May 2022 Heritage Auctions Sale.

CGC Magazine Holders
CGC began grading and encapsulating magazines in 2003 as well as oversized comics. In February 2023 CGC debuted its next-generation holder. The redesigned and optimized state-of-the-art holder is sturdier than the original magazine holder, with crystal-clear optics for a vibrant display. The label area has been enhanced as well, with fully encased labels just like our esteemed comic book holders.
The new magazine holder also offers advanced security features, such as a heat-sealed hologram. The sturdier outer plastic better resists impacts, and precise pressure locks the magazine in place for enhanced protection and a superior way to preserve magazines.
