CGC-graded Amazing Spider-Man Comics Highlight ComicConnect Sale

Two popular Spider-Man comics may be getting even more attention from collectors these days thanks to an upcoming Disney+ series. These comics, and many more graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), are being offered in ComicConnect’s May Auction scheduled for May 2-4, 2023.
One of those comics is an Amazing Spider-Man #50 graded CGC 7.0, featuring an iconic “Spider-Man No More!” cover by John Romita and the first appearance of Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk. This has always been a highly collectible comic, but it is perhaps enjoying a bump from the news that Kingpin will return to screen, played by actor Vincent D’Onofrio. The character was previously played by actor Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 “Daredevil” film by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment.
D'Onofrio first portrayed Kingpin in the 2015 “Daredevil” television series on Netflix, opposite Charlie Cox as Daredevil, until the series ended in 2018. Marvel then reacquired the screen rights for Daredevil and Kingpin through Disney’s purchase of Fox in 2019, and Cox returned to debut his Daredevil in the 2021 film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. D’Onofrio followed Cox later that year to bring his Kingpin to the MCU in the Disney+ “Hawkeye” series, and the two will meet again in the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again'' series on Disney+.

Also available is an Amazing Spider-Man #129 graded CGC 4.5, featuring the first appearance of The Punisher. Just like ASM #50, this book might be seeing higher interest with collectors because of his upcoming addition to the MCU. Like Kingpin, Punisher was previously seen on the big screen played by Dolph Lundgren (1989), Thomas Jane (2004) and Ray Stevenson (2008) until he was recast again to debut in his own Netflix “Punisher” series starring Jon Bernthal in 2017.
All of these films were produced by 20th Century Fox, which held the screen rights to the character until they were fully returned to Marvel in 2019. Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle (“The Punisher”) to introduce the character to the MCU in the upcoming Daredevil series on Disney+. The book is also offered in this auction in CGC 4.0 and CGC 3.5 grades.
