Name: Stormwatch #4
Comic publisher: Image Comics
Date: February 1998
Variants: None
What makes it special? In celebration of Pride Month, Stormwatch #4 is the first appearance of Apollo and Midnighter — an LGBT+ analog for DC’s Superman and Batman.
Why is it interesting now? Apollo and Midnighter became founding members of The Authority superteam, and later jumped to DC Comics through DC’s acquisition of WildStorm Studios. DC Studios is now producing a film featuring The Authority, with many characters expected to first appear in the 2025 Superman film. Their upcoming leap to the big screen has increased the popularity of this book among collectors.
Did you know? This is the second volume of the Stormwatch series, following the first volume that included 50 issues published by Image Comics between 1993 and 1997. Following this second volume, a third volume was published by DC Comics between 2012 and 2014.
Total graded by CGC: As of May 16, 2024, there were 249 examples in the CGC Census.

Sales highlights: A CGC 9.8 was sold for $599 in a fixed price sale on eBay in February 2023.
