CGC welcomes Zenescope comic creators!

CGC Signature Series is pleased to bring fans an exclusive Private Signing opportunity with popular Zenescope comic book creators Eric Basaldua, Ale Garza, Anthony Spay, Elias Chatzoudis, Nei Ruffino, Mike Krome, Keith Garvey, Sun Khamunaki and Mike DeBalfo! This group of creators are best known for their eye-catching covers and interiors for Zenescope as well as other publishers in the industry. In addition to signatures, they will be offering Remarque and Sketch options available for purchase. See pricing and details below.

Eric Basaldua

Eric Basaldua (Ebas) was a mainstay of the Top Cow universe. He started working at Top Cow in 2000 under the direct tutelage of founder Marc Silvestri. He became one of the Top Guns at Top Cow. A self-professed thong lover, Eric is known for his depictions of beautiful women and sexy artwork. Eric has worked on many fan favorite comic series, including Hunter-Killer, Witchblade, Tomb Raider, Freshman, The Magdalena, Blood Legacy: The Young Ones, The Darkness, Battle of the Planets, the Darkness/Vampirella crossover, and the Witchblade/Wolverine crossover. In 2006, Top Cow published a sketchbook of Eric's fabulous artwork, and in 2008, Eric did the artwork for the first ever Virgin Comics/Top Cow crossover, Devi/Witchblade #1. He has since provided various covers for Marvel, DC, Rothic, Top Cow and Zenescope.

Alé Garza

Alé Garza began working in comics at the age of nineteen for Wildstorm Studios, where he created titles Ninja Boy, and Skye Runner. He's also had runs on Deadpool, Superman/Batman, Gen-13, Teen Titans, Batgirl, and Supergirl for DC Comics. Other notable work includes cover art for series like Dejah Thoris, Vampirella, and numerous Zenescope titles. He worked on the New York Times best seller Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi with Anthony Bourdain for Vertigo comics and recently drew The ArachKnight and Future Avengers for Marvel Comics. Garza has also operated as lead character artist for the DCU MMO and has done various concept work for both Cryptic Studios, and Jam City. Most recently he has worked as a cover artist for Black Ops, where he operates as art director and for Merc Publishing. Garza is currently preparing to release his latest creation, The SandWenches alongside his original creation Ninja Boy.

Anthony Spay

With credits as an artist, writer, editor, and art director, Anthony Spay has worked in every area of comics as well as gaming and television. He has worked for companies like DC Comics, Upper Deck, Warner Brothers Television, and of course Zenescope. Spay has been working with Zenescope in one fashion or another for over fifteen years, penciling covers and interiors as well as designing many characters including Keres and Van Helsing. He is also known for his cover art for Lady Death for Coffin Comics, and his extensive work internationally on The Phantom for Kings Feature Syndicate. Currently Spay is acting as creative director/art lead on the upcoming console games The Phantom and Lady Death from Art of Play Interactive, in addition to his regular cover work.

Drax Gal

Born and raised in Mexico City, Drax Gal discovered his passion for drawing at a young age. Over the years, he taught himself how to perfect his craft, driven by his dream of becoming a comic book artist. With four years of professional experience under his belt, Drax now infuses his unique style into his work, blending Western artistry with his deep appreciation for Japanese manga. He has contributed to titles such as Van Helsing, Robyn Hood, Grim Fairy Tales, and more, giving each cover a distinct spin with dynamic angles and storytelling. Drax believes that comic book covers should reflect the hard work and passion of the team behind the interiors, so he pours his heart into every single cover he works on, in the hopes that readers and fans of these amazing stories will be drawn to explore the next issue.

Elias Chatzoudis

Elias Chatzoudis is a professional cover artist based in the USA since 2015. He is mainly known for creating covers for comic book publishers like Zenescope Entertainment, IDW Publishing, Dynamite Entertainment, Archie Comics, Coffin Comics, Top Cow Comics, Titan Comics and more. Chatzoudis’ artwork is created using a half traditional, half digital approach with line art using pencils/inks and digital coloring or use of markers/acrylics.

Nei Ruffino

Nei Ruffino is a creator from California known for her work on The Secret Life of Crows, Final Crisis: Red Lanterns, Blackest Night: Wonder Woman, Zenescope's Return to Wonderland, as well as cover coloring for many artists including colors for J. Scott Campbell and Frank Cho.

Mike Krome

Mike Krome is an Australian artist whose work has been featured in children’s books, magazines, computer games, film promotions, and comics. His comic covers can be seen featured on books published by Dynamite, Coffin Comics, Zenescope Entertainment, Image, Aspen Comics, Valiant Entertainment and others.

Keith Garvey

Keith Garvey is a classically trained artist graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He does art in a variety of mediums such as pencil, paint and digital. Keith is most well-known for his pin-ups and has been a mainstay in the world of pin-up art for over 20 years. His unmistakable style has been the go-to for companies looking to get noticed. Over the last few years, he has also started doing comic book covers. Doing his first cover in 2016 and never looking back, Keith has done hundreds of covers for the most popular indie creators in the business.

Sun Khamunaki

Sun Khamunaki is a Canadian artist, comic book creator and publisher. She is the creator of Ormus, Becca Boo & co-creator of Pumpkin. She specializes in pin-up, science-fiction, horror and fantasy paintings, applying her artistic skill to portray characters in her own stylistic vision.

She first became known by her Lady Death covers for Coffin Comics, and has since provided covers for a variety of projects for Coffin Comics, including Hellwitch and La Muerta. She is a popular cover artist for Zenescope Entertainment, contributing to their Grimm Fairy Tales series Robyn Hood, Van Helsing and many others. Sun is also known for her work with Dynamite Entertainment, providing covers for Vampirella, Red Sonja, Purgatori and others. Recently, her work also includes variant covers for DC Comics’ DCeased, Wonder Woman, Batman, Birds of Prey and Harley Quinn.

In addition to cover assignments, Sun is hard at work developing her titles and publishing company, Obscura Comics.

Mike DeBalfo

Mike DeBalfo has made a name for himself in the industry as one of the premier top selling cover artists of this generation for publishers such as Zenescope Entertainment, Coffin Comics, Aspen Comics, Big Dog Ink and many more. Inspired by early work of Jim Lee and stories featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, DeBalfo utilized these imaginative industry staples while acquiring a skill set and good girl art style from the Joe Kubert School of Art where he graduated in 2003.

CGC is thrilled to also offer the exclusive, limited edition Zenescope custom label to commemorate this special Private Signing. The label will feature Zenescope’s iconic art and can be added to submissions at no additional cost by fans!

Each artist’s Signature fee includes the following:

  • Artist’s signature
  • PLEASE NOTE: Requesting specific signature ink color is not guaranteed and it lies completely within the signer's discretion
  • Expedited turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
  • Expedited turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
  • Encapsulation with CGC’s iconic yellow Signature Series label

Each artist’s Remarque fee includes:

  • Illustrated Remarque (submitter can request image drawn but artist's reserve the right to choose a different character)
  • Artist’s signature
  • Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
  • Expedited turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
  • Encapsulation with CGC’s iconic yellow Signature Series label
  • If it is noted next to the fee price that there are limited Remarques available, Remarques are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis; when the option is gone, all spots have been taken.

Each artist’s Sketch fee includes:

  • Illustrated Sketch. Important: The final design and subject matter of the Sketch is at the artist’s discretion. CGC cannot guarantee Sketch requests. Submissions must be a blank Sketch cover.
  • Artist’s signature
  • Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
  • Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
  • Encapsulation with the iconic yellow CGC Signature Series label
  • If it is noted next to the fee price that there are limited Sketches available, Sketches are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis; when the option is gone, all spots have been taken.

For this exclusive event, ALL CGC members, including free CGC members, can submit books directly to CGC headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. CGC must receive all submissions for this event by Friday, August 9, 2024.

If the In-House Private Signing needs to be rescheduled, CGC will securely store all submissions in its vault until the event can be rescheduled.

After they sign the submitted books, CGC will grade and encapsulate them with an estimated turnaround time of six weeks. If CGC pressing is also requested, the turnaround time is estimated at eight weeks. After grading and encapsulation, the collectibles will be shipped back to their owners.

Submission Instructions

For this CGC Private Signing event, you can ship submissions directly to CGC with a FREE membership. Paid memberships are also available and include additional benefits. For more information and to join, visit CGCcomics.com/join.

To submit books for the signing:

  • Log onto your account or sign up for an account HERE.
  • Click Submit in the CGC website navigation and select Submission Forms.
  • Next to Comics / Magazines, select Online Form.
  • Select Comic or Magazine from the drop-down menu, then select Private Signing and one of the following from the dropdown menu section:
    [ARTIST’S NAME], SIGNATURE (i.e. ALE GARZA, SIGNATURE); [ARTIST’S NAME], REMARQUE (i.e. ALE GARZA, REMARQUE); [ ARTISTS NAME], SKETCH TYPE (i.e. ALE GARZA, PENCILED HEAD SKETCH).
  • Under Services, select Grading and, if you would like it, Pressing. Then hit Next in the top right section of the form.
  • Enter the information requested for your comic, and make sure to check the box next to [ARTIST’S NAME] under Private Signing Details.
  • On the next screen, you can add one of CGC’s custom Marvel labels to your submission for qualifying books.
  • Select Add to Cart, and then repeat if there are additional books in your submission. If there are no additional books in your submission, click on the cart icon and proceed to checkout.
  • Note: If you want to submit magazines, please group them together on their own private signing form separate from comic submissions. The same rule applies for any custom labels.   • Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted. You can purchase window bags HERE.
  • Books that are already certified by CGC, including CGC Signature Series books, can be submitted for this event. CGC will remove a CGC-certified book from its holder for an additional $5 fee.
  • Carefully package books in a box for shipment.
  • IMPORTANT: Please write [ARTIST’S INITIALS] on all sides of the outside of the box (i.e. for Eric Balsaldua you would write EB on the outside of your shipping box). You must initial outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing.
  • Books will be received into the CGC system when they arrive and will be safely stored by CGC until the event. (Please note: Payments are processed as they normally are at the time of the collectibles’ arrival at CGC.)
  • Once books are signed, they will start an expedited CGC grading process.

PLEASE NOTE:

All submissions must be received by CGC no later than Friday, August 9, 2024, to qualify for this private signing event. No change requests will be accepted after Friday, August 9, 2024.

*Cannot be combined with other CGC Private Signing events.

**If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.

****Marker color requests are welcome, but not guaranteed. Marker color choice and signature placement is at the final discretion of the signer.
