CGC Joins Forces with CBLDF for 2024 Welcome Party at SDCC

For comic professionals and enthusiasts attending the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, there is no better way to kick off the festivities than the annual Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) Welcome Party. CGC Comics proudly joins as a co-sponsor of this year’s highly anticipated event, which is set to take place on Thursday, July 25, from 8 p.m. until midnight at the prestigious Westgate Hotel.

The 2024 Welcome Party will pay homage to the legendary EC Comics, a pioneering force in the comic industry known for its groundbreaking stories and commitment to free speech. This tribute is fittingly aligned with the release of Oni Press’s Epitaphs from the Abyss #1, which honors EC Comics Publisher William M. Gaines. Gaines was a staunch defender of creative freedom and free expression, making this event a perfect celebration of his legacy.

Attendees can look forward to an array of exciting activities and highlights, including:

• Silent Art Auction: Bid on exclusive artwork from top comic book artists, with proceeds supporting the CBLDF’s mission to protect the First Amendment rights of the comics community.
• Live DJ Sets: Enjoy live DJ performances by MUTANT co-founders Mo Shafeek and Spencer Hickman, who will keep the energy high throughout the night.
• Cool Swag: The first 100 attendees who donate $20 or more will receive free gift bags packed with exclusive collectibles and memorabilia.
• Open to All: While Comic-Con badges are not required to attend and entry is free for CBLDF members, there is a suggested $20 donation for the general public, which goes directly to supporting the CBLDF’s important work.
