This month's hottest comics represent a thrilling mix of classic and modern issues, including scenes that have been famously re-created in blockbuster films. The first comic book appearance of a classic Star Wars Sith Lord offers a glimpse into the origins of one of the galaxy's most notorious villains, while in the dark and apocalyptic future of the DC Comics Universe, legendary heroes are forced to confront a world spiraling into chaos. These comics serve as a bridge between the page and the big screen, making them must-haves for any collection.

The issue features the X-Men caught in a brutal, dystopian scenario where they are hunted by the deadly Reavers. The iconic cover, illustrated by Marc Silvestri, has become one of the most memorable in comic book history. It depicts Wolverine crucified on an X-shaped cross, a powerful and shocking image that symbolizes the character's resilience and the extreme trials faced by the X-Men during this era. The cover is a striking representation of the harsh, gritty narrative that defined the series at that time, and this image was re-created on the big screen, in the film "Deadpool and Wolverine."

Kingdom Come #1

Set in a dystopian future, the story explores a world where traditional superheroes like Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman have retired, leaving a new generation of reckless and morally ambiguous metahumans in charge. The narrative examines the consequences of power unchecked by responsibility and the eventual return of the original heroes to restore order. Alex Ross's realistic, painterly art style adds a timeless and epic quality to the story, making Kingdom Come a landmark in comic book history. The iconic redesigned S-shield from this series was the inspiration for Superman's new symbol in the upcoming 2025 Superman film.

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #10

The issue continues the epic battle between Marvel's greatest heroes and villains, all manipulated by the god-like Beyonder on a distant, patchwork planet called Battleworld. In this installment, Doctor Doom takes center stage as he confronts the Beyonder, seizing the ultimate power to reshape reality itself. The issue is renowned for its intense portrayal of Doom's ambition and willpower, as he faces insurmountable odds to claim godhood, making it one of the most memorable moments in the Secret Wars saga. The stakes are at their highest, showcasing the complexity of Doom's character and his relentless pursuit of absolute power. This issue is rising on the market following news that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. will now portray Dr. Doom in the upcoming films, "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars."

Star Wars: Tag & Bink II #2

Star Wars: Tag and Bink II #2, released in 2006 by Dark Horse Comics, is the final issue of a two-part comedic series that follows the misadventures of Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna, two bumbling Rebel Alliance officers who inadvertently find themselves at the center of major events in the Star Wars universe. In this issue, the duo continues to stumble through iconic moments, including a humorous interaction with the infamous Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. Though Darth Plagueis is typically known for his serious and mysterious role in Star Wars lore, particularly as the mentor of Emperor Palpatine, in this comic, his presence is used to add a layer of irony and dark humor. The issue saw a market increase this month following Darth Plagueis' brief appearance in the Disney+ series, "The Acolyte."

Incredible Hulk #340

Written by Peter David and featuring iconic art by Todd McFarlane, this issue reignites the fierce rivalry between these two powerful characters. The story sees the Hulk, in his gray incarnation, crossing paths with Wolverine, leading to a brutal and ferocious fight that showcases their raw strength and relentless determination. McFarlane's dynamic and gritty artwork, particularly the cover featuring Wolverine's claws reflecting the Hulk's rage-filled face, has become one of the most iconic images in comic book history. Similar to X-Men #251 on this month's list, the classic imagery of this cover was re-created on screen in the film "Deadpool and Wolverine."
