CGC Helps Raise More Than $5,000 for ComicBooks For Kids!

Posted on 10/8/2024

The ComicBooks For Kids! charity provides comic books to children during stays in hospitals and cancer centers.

Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) is proud to have helped raise more than $5,000 in the past year for ComicBooks For Kids! through the sale of custom labels and original artist sketches authenticated by CGC Signature Series, which were auctioned off with 100% of proceeds going to the charity.

The ComicBooks For Kids! charity provides child-friendly comic books to hospitals and cancer centers across the US and Canada. While no one can take away the reason a child is in a hospital, the goal of ComicBooks For Kids! is to make their time there a little better by providing some relief in the form of comic books.

"CGC is honored to partner with ComicBooks For Kids! in their mission to bring joy to children during their hospital stays through the gift of comic books,” said CGC President Matt Nelson. “We are proud to support a program that spreads the excitement and escapism of comics to young readers. By working together, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of these kids and introduce them to a lifelong love of reading."

The custom CGC comic book label was created by the talented students from the INDEX Project at the world-renowned Ringling College of Art and Design through an art contest sponsored by the college and CGC. The INDEX Project gives students the opportunity to connect with real-world businesses, gaining real-life work experience and elevating their portfolios in the process. CGC has raised nearly $3,050 for ComicBooks For Kids! from the sale of these labels.

"CGC would like to express our deepest thanks to the collectors who joined with us to support this worthy cause by purchasing the ComicBooks For Kids! custom label. Ours is truly a generous and welcoming community," Nelson said.

Another way CGC helped raise money for the charity this past year was by auctioning original sketch artwork, authenticated by CGC Signature Series, at New York Comic Con and C2E2.

The NYCC sketch was by artist Daniel Warren Johnson, featuring the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime. The C2E2 sketch was a jam piece featuring original sketch artwork by Werther Dell’Edera, Martin Simmonds, Babs Tarr, Chrissie Zullo, Jason Shawn Alexander, Art Baltazar, Jorge Jimenez, Jenny Frison, Chip Zdarsky, Klaus Janson, Ken Lashley and Trish Forster.
