Fantastic Four #94

First introduced in Fantastic Four #94 in 1970, Agatha Harkness was originally portrayed as a mysterious and wise witch who helped the Fantastic Four care for Franklin Richards. Over the years, she became an enigmatic figure in Marvel Comics, often walking the line between ally and adversary. The character gained a new level of popularity when Kathryn Hahn brought her to life on the Disney+ series "WandaVision." Hahn's portrayal, with her darkly comedic charm and catchy theme song, turned the character into a fan-favorite almost overnight. Thanks to the success of WandaVision and the currently running spin-off series "Agatha All Along," interest in Agatha’s first appearance in Fantastic Four #94 has surged, making the comic more popular than ever among collectors and fans.

New Teen Titans #2

New Teen Titans #2, released in 1980, marked the first appearance of Deathstroke, one of DC Comics' most formidable mercenaries. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Deathstroke, also known as Slade Wilson, is a master strategist and skilled assassin with enhanced strength, agility and healing abilities. He quickly became a major antagonist for the Teen Titans, but his complex, morally ambiguous nature has made him a standout character across the DC universe. Recently, this issue has surged in popularity among collectors after the announcement that Deathstroke will be appearing in a new DC film alongside the Batman villain Bane (we'll get to that in a moment), sparking renewed interest in his comic book origins.

Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1

Published in 1993, Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 introduced Bane; a complex villain who would go on to become one of Batman's most dangerous foes. Created by Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench and Graham Nolan, Bane was born and raised in a brutal prison, where he developed his incredible strength, intellect and resilience. He later became infamous for orchestrating the "Knightfall" storyline, where he broke Batman’s back and took control of Gotham City. Unlike many of Batman's other adversaries, Bane is not just a physical powerhouse but also a master strategist. Recently, this comic has seen a spike in popularity (like Deathstroke, who also appears on this month's list) because of speculation following the announcement that Bane will appear in an upcoming DC film alongside Deathstroke.

Silver Surfer #3

Silver Surfer #3 was released in 1968, marking the first appearance of Mephisto, one of Marvel's most iconic villains. Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, Mephisto is a demon-like being who rules over his own hellish dimension. Known for his cunning and manipulative nature, he often makes deals with heroes and villains alike, twisting their desires to serve his own sinister ends. Over the years, Mephisto has clashed with many of Marvel's major characters, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer. Recently, this comic has gained popularity among collectors after the character was name-dropped in the Disney+ series "Agatha All Along," sparking speculation about Mephisto's possible future role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Green Lantern #87

Printed in 1971, Green Lantern #87 is a landmark issue in DC Comics history that introduced John Stewart as the first Black Green Lantern. Created by Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams, John Stewart was originally chosen as a backup to Hal Jordan, stepping up when the Green Lantern Corps needed him. Over time, he became a mainstay in the DC Universe, known for his strong sense of justice and a tactical mind, which he uses to create some of the most powerful constructs among the Green Lanterns. This comic has always been a fan-favorite for collectors, representing a significant moment in comic book diversity and storytelling. Recently, it has gained even more attention after the announcement that actor Aaron Pierre has been cast as John Stewart in the upcoming "Lanterns" TV series, sparking excitement for his live-action portrayal and driving renewed interest in the character’s first appearance.
