The set includes a diverse collection of reprints, international editions, homages and spoofs that pay homage to the legendary debut of Spider-Man. While it doesn’t yet include the original comic, Amazing Fantasy 15 / Homage / Swipe Masterset captures the spirit of Amazing Fantasy #15 through a wide range of creative interpretations.

The cover of Amazing Fantasy #15, which introduced the world to Spider-Man in 1962, has become one of the most iconic images in comic book history. Illustrated by Jack Kirby, it captures the web-slinger swinging through the city, effortlessly carrying a rescued man in one hand. This dynamic, instantly recognizable pose has been homaged and re-created countless times by different artists, comics and publishers over the years. From official Marvel covers celebrating milestones to playful parodies and variant covers by independent creators, the image of a hero swinging through the air has become a symbol of superheroism itself.

Registry user With Great Power has a large collection of homage covers.

“I had a handful of comics as a kid in the ’90s but didn't start to seriously collect (and grade) until about 2016. It was prompted entirely by a relocation to Los Angeles and access to my first ever con, 2016's LA Comikaze, where I had a chance to meet Stan Lee for the first time. I got a couple books signed and have been hooked ever since,” the user said.

“I'm a diehard Spider-Man fan and have always had sights on Amazing Fantasy #15 as my grail piece. While I continued to work my way to it, I discovered the many variations to the book such as facsimiles, swipes, homages and other reprints. My favorites to chase are the international editions because of the variations in the colors, unique sizes and language.”

There are currently 231 books in their collection, including about 170 on display in their CGC Comics Registry set. Among their favorites is an Amazing Fantasy #15 Toy Biz Reprint from August 2001 graded CGC 9.8.

“This book isn't hard to find by any measure, but it is hard to get a 9.8 because it was packaged with figures in such a way that many end up bent and have colorbreak,” With Great Power said. “This particular book has only two Universal 9.8 examples on census … with my 9.8 Signature Series being the sole book on the census. It also marks my first CGC-witnessed submission for a Stan Lee signing — effectively making this copy the ONLY signed and witnessed copy of the book in existence.”

Some of the comics in this month’s featured collection include:

  • Amazing Fantasy #15 Marvel Milestone Edition graded CGC 7.5
  • Deadpool #11 graded CGC 9.6
  • Hero Illustrated #6 graded CGC 9.6
  • Marvel Tales #137 graded CGC 9.8
  • Spawn #221 graded CGC 9.4
  • Spider-Man 2099 #37 graded CGC 9.8
  • Star Wars #1 graded CGC 9.6
