Creator origins: Jurgens began his comics career in 1981 with The Warlord and quickly became a creative force, best known for creating Booster Gold and his legendary run on Superman, including The Death of Superman. At Marvel, he worked on Spider-Man, Thor and Captain America before returning to DC for major titles like Action Comics, Justice League International and Batman Beyond. He reintroduced Superman's family dynamic in Superman: Lois and Clark and established Jonathan Kent as a key DC character. Recent highlights include Blue and Gold, celebrating Booster Gold, and anniversary stories for The Death of Superman and Thor.

Auction highlight: A Fantastic Four #600 graded CGC Signature Series 9.4 with a wraparound Dan Jurgens sketch, signed by Jurgens, sold for $1,020 in a Heritage Auctions sale in April 2022.

Did you know? Jurgens is a big fan of sports, especially baseball. He’s known to incorporate his love for the game into his work, and you can often spot subtle baseball references in his comics.
