CGC-certified Killing Joke and G.I. Joe Among Comics in February ComicConnect Sale
Posted on 1/29/2025
Whether you collect comics from the Bronze or Modern Age, ComicConnect is offering dozens of classics certified by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®). Online bidding is already underway for ComicConnect’s Winter Mega-Monthly Auction, which will be held February 10-12, 2025.
Among the comics featured in this auction is a Batman: The Killing Joke #nn graded CGC 9.8. Written by Alan Moore and released in 1988, this graphic novel is a haunting exploration of the Joker’s origins and his attempt to drive Commissioner Gordon insane, pushing Batman’s moral limits. The graphic novel is infamous for its brutal treatment of Barbara Gordon, leaving her paralyzed and sparking debates over its portrayal of violence. While it was initially a standalone story, Barbara's paralysis became a pivotal element of DC continuity, leading to her transformation into Oracle.
Also available is a G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21 graded CGC 9.6. Published in 1984, this comic marks the first appearance of Storm Shadow, the enigmatic ninja who would become one of the series’ most iconic characters. Introduced as Cobra Commander’s bodyguard and assassin, Storm Shadow’s loyalty was as mysterious as his past, tied to a complex history with Snake Eyes, his former friend and rival. The issue hints at their shared connection through the Arashikage ninja clan, setting the stage for one of the most compelling rivalries in comic book history.
