CGC-certified Fantastic Four #1 Leads Early 2025 ComicLink Sales
Posted on 2/28/2025
ComicLink started the year off strong, with impressive prices realized for iconic books graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®). The top CGC-certified comic of early 2025 was a Fantastic Four #1 graded CGC 7.0, which realized $50,009 on January 20. This comic from the earliest days of the Silver Age helped inaugurate the modern Marvel era of comics as we know it today. Released by Marvel Comics in 1961, this is the first appearance of the Fantastic Four by the iconic creative duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Fantastic Four’s popularity led to numerous adaptations, though Hollywood has struggled to translate their legacy to film. A shelved 1994 low-budget film was followed by mid-2000s blockbusters (“Fantastic Four” in 2005 and “Rise of the Silver Surfer” in 2007), which were financially successful but critically mixed. A dark 2015 reboot fared worse. Now the team is back on screen once again, with “Fantastic Four: First Steps” premiering July 2025, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
This wasn’t the only Silver Age comic to fetch an impressive price in January — several other key issues also saw strong sales. For Marvel and DC both, the market stayed hot with collectors eager to grab rare and high-grade books.
