CGC Announces In-House Private Signing with Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway!

Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway join CGC Signature Series for an exclusive event, celebrating their legendary contributions to comics. Don’t miss this chance to get their signatures on classic stories that helped shape the Marvel and DC universes!

CGC is thrilled to host the historic comic book creative team of Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway for an exclusive signature event!

Roy Thomas has been a writer and editor, primarily for Marvel or DC Comics, since 1965. Among the many comics series he has written are The Avengers; X-Men; Amazing Spider-Man; Fantastic Four; Incredible Hulk; Conan the Barbarian; Savage Sword of Conan; Star Wars; Invaders; All-Star Squadron; Infinity, Inc., Young All-Stars, Secret Origins; Arak, Son of Thunder; and many more! He served as Marvel’s editor-in-chief from 1972 to 1974 and co-created Wolverine, Carol Danvers, Vision, Ultron, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, Red Sonja, Werewolf by Night, The Defenders, Man-Thing, Havok, Valkyrie, Red Guardian, Adam Warlock, Morbius, the “What If?” series, Daimon Hellstrom, Brother Voodoo, Dane Whitman (Black Knight) and numerous other characters.

He currently edits the award-winning comics-history magazine Alter Ego, writes online adventure comic strips for Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and still occasionally writes for Marvel Comics. He is also currently writing stories of Conan the Barbarian for Heroic Signatures. Besides receiving numerous fan and pro awards over the years in the U.S. and abroad, he was elected in 2011 to the Will Eisner Hall of Fame and the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame in 2022.

Gerry Conway has been writing professionally since 1968. His first stories, for DC Comics, appeared in House of Secrets and The Witching Hour. In 1970, he moved to Marvel Comics to write for Daredevil, Sub-Mariner, Iron Man and The Mighty Thor, and The Amazing Spider-Man. He is best known for co-creating the Punisher and writing “The Night Gwen Stacy Died” in Amazing Spider-Man #121-122. For DC Comics, Gerry wrote The Justice League of America, Batman, Detective Comics, Superman and many more, as well as several large-format graphic novels, including Superman vs. Spider-man.

Gerry wrote and published his first science-fiction novel, “The Midnight Dancers” as an Ace Science Fiction Special, under the name Gerard F. Conway. He also wrote the science-fiction novel “Mindship,” as well as two Edgar Rice Burroughs pastiches under the pseudonym Wallace Moore.

Thomas and Conway co-wrote several screenplays together, including “Fire and Ice” and “Conan the Destroyer.”

For this exclusive event, ALL CGC members, including free CGC members, can submit books directly to CGC headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. CGC must receive all submissions for this event by Friday, August 29, 2025.

If the CGC Private Signing needs to be rescheduled, CGC will securely store all submissions in its vault until the event can be rescheduled.

After they sign the submitted books, CGC will grade and encapsulate them with an estimated turnaround time of six weeks. If CGC pressing is also requested, the turnaround time is estimated at eight weeks. After grading and encapsulation, the collectibles will be shipped back to their owners.

The CGC Private Signing fee for Roy Thomas is $110 per item and includes:

  • Roy Thomas’ signature
  • Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
  • Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)

  • Gerry Conway’s Punisher Skull Remarque. Important: The final design and subject matter of the Remarque is at the artist’s discretion. CGC cannot guarantee Remarque requests. No blank covers.

  • Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading

The CGC Private Signing fee for Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway’s Signatures is $160 per item and includes:

  • Roy Thomas’ signature
  • Gerry Conway’s signature
  • Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
  • Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
  • Encapsulation with the iconic yellow CGC Signature Series label

Submission Instructions

For this CGC Private Signing event, you can ship submissions directly to CGC with a FREE membership. Paid memberships are also available and include additional benefits. For more information and to join, visit CGCcomics.com/join.

To submit books for the signing:

  • Log onto your account or sign up for an account HERE.
  • Click Submit in the CGC website navigation and select Submission Forms.
  • Next to Comics / Magazines / Pulps, select Online Form.
  • Click Start New Order.
  • Select Comic or Magazine, then select CGC Signature Series, then select In-House Private Signing and one of the following from the dropdown menu section:
    ROY THOMAS, SIGNATURE; ROY THOMAS, REMARQUE; GERRY CONWAY, SIGNATURE; GERRY CONWAY, REMARQUE; ROY THOMAS/GERRY CONWAY, DUO SIGNATURE. Under Primary Services, select Authentication & Grading and, if you would like it, Pressing. Then click Add Comic.
  • Enter the information requested for your comic, and make sure to check the box next to ROY THOMAS/GERRY CONWAY under Private Signing Details.
  • If a qualifying custom label is available, you will have the option to click the Custom Label box and make a selection to add one of CGC’s custom labels to your submission for qualifying books.
  • Select Add Comic, and then repeat if there are additional books in your submission. If there are no additional books in your submission, click on Review Cart and proceed to checkout.
  • Note: If you want to submit magazines, please group them together on their own private signing form separate from comic submissions. The same rule applies for any custom labels.   • Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted.
  • Books that are already certified by CGC, including CGC Signature Series books, can be submitted for this event. CGC will remove a CGC-certified book from its holder for an additional $5 fee.
  • Carefully package books in a box for shipment.
  • IMPORTANT: Please write RT/GC on all sides of the outside of the box. You must initial outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing.
  • Books will be received into the CGC system when they arrive and will be safely stored by CGC until the event. (Please note: Payments are processed as they normally are at the time of the collectibles’ arrival at CGC.)
  • Once books are signed, they will start an expedited CGC grading process.

PLEASE NOTE:

All submissions must be received by CGC no later than Friday, August 29, 2025, to qualify for this private signing event. No change requests will be accepted after Friday, August 29, 2025.

**If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.

****Marker color requests are welcome but not guaranteed. Marker color choice and signature placement is at the final discretion of the signer.
