CGC-certified Captain America Comics #1 Realizes More than a Quarter Million Dollars in ComicConnect Auction

A rare comic featuring the first appearance of Captain America in 1941 and graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) marched toward a staggering six-figure sale in ComicConnect Auction 61 on March 21, 2025.

Among the highlights of the sale was a Captain America Comics #1 graded CGC 7.0, which realized $266,813.

Published by Timely Comics (a precursor to Marvel) in 1941, this comic featured the first appearance of Captain America. Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the cover featuring Captain America delivering a punch to Adolf Hitler became an iconic image, reflecting the burgeoning patriotic fervor in the United States prior to its entry into World War II. This issue also introduced key characters such as Bucky Barnes, Cap's loyal sidekick, and the villainous Red Skull.
