CGC-certified Hulk #181 Takes the Top Spot in ComicLink’s April Auction

From pristine Hulk issues to rare early appearances of the X-Men, Silver Age Marvel classics graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) were in the spotlight during ComicLink’s Premium Comic Auction on April 21, 2025.

Leading the auction was an Incredible Hulk #181 graded CGC 9.8, which realized $50,969. This comic is a significant key issue, with the first full appearance of Wolverine following a cameo in the previous issue. Created by Len Wein, Roy Thomas and John Romita Sr., Wolverine went on to join the X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1, and has become a fan favorite, starring in multiple animated series and films.

There are currently more than 18,000 examples of Incredible Hulk #181 in the CGC Census, with 168 graded CGC 9.8, and only one graded higher at CGC 9.9.

• a Fantastic Four #5 graded CGC 6.5, which realized $10,780
• an X-Men #45 graded CGC 9.8, which realized $10,250
• an Amazing Spider-Man #4 graded CGC 9.0, which realized $9,219
• a Detective Comics #122 graded CGC 7.0, which realized $8,227
• an Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 graded CGC 9.0, which realized $8,150
