CGC-certified TMNT and Iron Fist Hit the Block in ComicConnect Sale
Posted on 4/28/2025
A powerhouse lineup of comics graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) is heading to the auction block, offering major first appearances, cult classics and signed editions. Online bidding is already underway for ComicConnect’s Spring Mega Monthly auction, which will be held May 6-8, 2025.
Among the top books in this auction is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 Third Printing graded CGC 8.5. Before they were a hit Saturday morning cartoon for kids, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were first introduced in comics in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird at Mirage Studios as a dark, noir team of mutant vigilantes. The series was created as a parody of contemporary superhero comic books and introduced four turtle brothers who live secretly in the sewers with their rodent sensei Splinter. The comic was licensed to Playmates, who altered the tone of the noir story to a more child-friendly concept to sell their line of toys and an animated series in 1987.
Also available is an Iron Fist #14 graded CGC 8.5, with the first appearance of Sabretooth. Introduced as a mercenary adversary for Iron Fist, Sabretooth was originally depicted as a ruthless brawler with no mutant backstory — that came later, as he evolved into a bloodthirsty foil for Wolverine. With his feral instincts, healing factor and deep-rooted sadism, Sabretooth became a staple in X-Men lore, embodying the dark mirror of what Logan could’ve been.
