Comic Book Pedigrees -- New Site Launch! www.ComicBookPedigrees.com

Posted on 5/19/2011

Check out this new site that pulls and uses CGC census data through out to illustrate the differences in pedigrees.

Stephen Ritter and Matt Nelson are proud to launch the new Comic Book Pedigrees website! This website provides fandom with a massive database of pedigreed images to peruse, starting with over 22,000 scans, and will continue to grow with your contributions. Any collector can upload scans of pedigree comics to the website using their very simple system. They estimate there are over 100,000 pedigreed comic books in the hobby today, leaving plenty more to "discover."

The website currently acknowledges 63 different pedigreed collections, and will accept scans of either CGC or ungraded copies (as long as the ungraded copies exhibit some sort of markings to identify them). Every scan uploaded will display the uploaders screen name and date next to it. Scans submitted should be sharp as possible, and big enough to read the CGC label, or view identifiable markings. Only front cover scans are displayed on the site.

In addition to uploading scans, there is also the opportunity to utilize the buy/bid function for any pedigree book on the site. If the pedigree comic is for sale or auction on one of the authorized sale sites, simply paste the URL into the field and a buy/bid link will be added to that pedigree book. That link takes any viewer directly to the website page where the book is being offered for sale or auction. Buy/bid links will expire after 60 days. Anyone interested in joining the authorized sale sites should visit this section of the website for more information.

Stephen and Matt are hard at work on the long-anticipated pedigree book, due out spring of 2012. Read updates of their progrees on the site. The idea for a community database of pedigree scans has been in gestation for years, but with the imminent arrival of the book next year and the discovery of three new pedigree collections this year, they felt now was a good time to launch the new website for the hobby. They hope that everyone will enjoy perusing the pedigrees, and just as important, contribute any scans they may have.

The website will continue to change and grow with suggestions and contributions, so please provide them with any feedback you have, positive or negative. And look for them at the Big Apple New York show, San Diego Comic-con, Chicago Wizard World, Baltimore and New York Comic-Con later this year. Happy uploading!
