Star Wars #1 is CGC’s Featured Comic of the Month for December

Heritage Auctions sold a CGC 9.4 Star Wars #1 (35 Cent Price Variant) in November 2017 for $23,900. CGC has graded only two hundred and thirty five copies of the 35 Cent Price Variant.

What makes it special? This book features Part 1 of “Star Wars: A New Hope.” This was Marvel’s official adaptation of the film.

Why is it interesting now? The last film of the current Star Wars saga is releasing in theaters on December 20, 2019.

Did you know? Lucasfilm approached Marvel Comics in 1975 about publishing a Star Wars comic prior to the film’s release. Stan Lee declined until the film’s completion, and was inevitably persuaded by Roy Thomas who went on to write the comic.
