CGC Announces Updates to Membership Tiers, Services and Fees

So far, 2021 has been a particularly exciting year for Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®). Comic books, trading cards and other collectibles certified by CGC are setting record prices, and demand for our expert and impartial services is growing rapidly.

In response, CGC has actively sought and implemented measures to increase capacity while maintaining the highest standards of quality. As part of the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®), we have initiated a massive hiring push that has resulted in over 70 new employees being added in the last three months, purchased a multi-million-dollar new building, brought in efficiency consultants and worked thousands of hours of overtime. We have increased incentives to motivate and reward our employees and to attract new talent.

In this fast-growing and highly competitive industry, CGC is paying the most competitive salaries to attract the best talent. We are also investing in the latest technology and equipment that help ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the grading process.

To advance these and other efforts, CGC is updating its membership tiers, services and fees, effective April 28, 2021.

The new services and fees apply to all CGC Online Submission Forms completed as of April 28, 2021. Submission forms completed before April 28, 2021, must be delivered to CGC’s facility by May 28, 2021, to qualify for the old pricing. CGC memberships purchased prior to April 28, 2021, will continue to have the current membership benefits until their renewal/expiration date.

Please see below for the updated CGC and CCS Services & Fees for comic book submissions, effective April 28, 2021. Similar updates will go into effect for magazine, concert poster and CGC Signature Series submissions. A complete list of services can be viewed here. Note that CGC is eliminating the Value tier and combining it with the Economy tier, which is now lower in price. Also, CCS is eliminating the QuickPress option due to recent enhancements that have reduced the differences between QuickPress and regular pressing. Submissions already received by CGC cannot be changed.

There will also be some updates to UPS and FedEx return shipping fees for comic books and magazines, effective April 28, 2021. Those updates are posted here.

A $2 fee per card will be applied to cards that are not fully described on the submission form.
